What We Offer

3D Stainless Steel Key

A three-dimensional key CNC-machined from solid stainless steel, making unauthorized duplication physically impossible.

21 Rotating Discs

The core utilizes 21 specialized rotating discs rather than standard pins, eliminating vulnerabilities to bumping and traditional manipulation.

Extreme Durability

Constructed of V2A stainless steel, the cylinder is virtually impervious to drilling, core pulling, freezing, and severe physical force.

VdS & DIN Certified

Tested and certified to the absolute highest European security standards (VdS BZ+ and DIN EN 1303).

DOM Diamant in Washington DC

For clients in Washington DC’s embassy districts, high-value art collectors in Kalorama, and executive estates, standard high-security locks may not meet the threat model. DC Local Locksmith imports and installs the DOM Diamant, one of the most secure mechanical locking systems available.

Manufactured in Germany by DOM Security, the Diamant discards the traditional pin-tumbler blueprint. It abandons pins and springs entirely, replacing them with a complex arrangement of CNC-machined steel discs.

Unmatched Engineering and Physical Defense

Most locks, even those marketed as high security, share structural similarities that a deeply dedicated attacker might exploit. The DOM Diamant operates on an entirely different plane of mechanical engineering.

  • 21-Disc Rotation System: Inside the cylinder are 21 independently rotating stainless steel discs. The key must align every disc simultaneously to release the locking bar.
  • No Pins or Springs: Because the Diamant lacks standard pins and driver springs, lock bumping is not possible. The density and complexity of the 21-disc stack also defeats traditional picking.
  • V2A Stainless Steel Construction: The cylinder body and the key are forged from V2A stainless steel. The lock resists drill bits, core extraction, twisting, freezing, and kinetic impacts.

The 3D Milled Key

Perhaps the most striking feature of the Diamant system is the key itself. It does not look or feel like a traditional key.

Instead of a flat blade with teeth, the Diamant key is a solid geometric rod of stainless steel. The “bitting” (the cuts that operate the lock) is milled three-dimensionally around the entire circumference of the steel using highly advanced CNC machinery.

  • Zero Unauthorized Duplication: You will never find a “blank” for this key in the United States. If you require a duplicate, the request must be transmitted to the DOM manufacturing facility in Germany, accompanied by the heavily encrypted ownership card that comes with the lock.
  • Generational Durability: The steel key will likely never bend, break, or wear down under normal, or even rigorous, usage conditions.

Common Questions

DOM Diamant Security in Washington DC FAQs

What makes the DOM Diamant key so secure?

Standard keys are stamped from brass blanks in two dimensions. The DOM Diamant key is CNC-milled from a solid block of V2A stainless steel with complex, three-dimensional cuts on all sides. It does not exist as a 'blank' in standard hardware stores. It can only be duplicated directly by the DOM factory in Germany upon presentation of your highly restricted authorization card.

Is the DOM Diamant pick-proof?

While in the security industry nothing is technically deemed '100% impossible', the DOM Diamant is widely regarded by lock sport experts and security professionals as the closest thing to it. With 21 internal rotating discs and 35 individual interrogations per key insertion, the complexity requires specialized robotic tools to even attempt manipulation. For any human intruder, it is effectively pick-proof.

Can DOM Diamant be installed on any door?

Given its European engineering, it is common in Euro-profile cylinder formats, which we frequently install in multipoint locking doors found in luxury DC homes. It can also be adapted to certain heavy-duty mortise and deadbolt configurations. Our technicians will assess your door hardware before installation to confirm compatibility.

Are you licensed and insured for residential work in DC?

Yes. DC Local Locksmith holds a current DC and MD license, is fully bonded, and carries general liability insurance. Documentation is available on request.

Do you offer after-hours service for home lockouts?

Yes. Our dispatch line is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Quoted before dispatch.

Which lock brands do you install and service?

We install and service Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, and most ANSI-rated residential hardware. We can supply hardware or install what you provide.

Should I rekey or replace my locks after moving into a new home?

Rekeying is the faster option when the hardware is in good condition and serves most change-of-occupancy needs. Replacement is warranted when hardware is worn, damaged, or below ANSI Grade 1 standard. We confirm which path fits your hardware during the quote.

Can you cut additional keys on-site?

Yes. We carry key blanks for most residential cylinders and can cut copies at the time of service.

What is ANSI Grade 1, and do I need it for my exterior doors?

ANSI Grade 1 is the highest residential security rating, tested for 250,000 cycles, 6 attempts at 75-pound force, and pick/drill resistance. We recommend Grade 1 on all exterior doors and Grade 2 minimum on interior doors.

What is your protocol for eviction-related lock changes?

We require a copy of the court order before performing an eviction lock change. We do not perform lock changes on occupied residential units without legal authorization.
