The Magnetic Code System: protection against unauthorized key duplication that 3D printers cannot defeat

  • Licensed and bonded technicians serving DC homeowners since 2004.
  • Same-day service available on most residential hardware.
  • Every install includes a reinforced 3-inch strike plate.

What We Offer

Magnetic Rotor Technology

Internal magnetic rotors interface with magnets built directly into the key, meaning there is no physical contact required to verify the code.

100% Copy-Proof Keys

The proprietary magnets cannot be reproduced by 3D printers or aftermarket milling machines, guaranteeing absolute key control.

Pick and Bump Proof

Because the magnetic elements operate without direct physical contact or pins, traditional picking and bumping attacks are impossible.

Master Keying Capabilities

Offers an astronomical number of possible key permutations, allowing for the world's most intricate and secure master key systems.

EVVA MCS in Washington DC

For diplomats, high-profile residents, and security-conscious homeowners in Washington DC who need certainty against covert entry, the EVVA MCS (Magnetic Code System) takes a different approach than standard locks.

Developed in Austria, the EVVA MCS does not use pins and springs. It uses complex magnetic fields. DC Local Locksmith installs and maintains these cylinders for demanding clients across the District.

The Genius of Magnetic Security

When assessing true high security, you have to account for modern threats, specifically, the rise of high-resolution 3D printing and digital imaging, which can recreate complex mechanical keys from a simple photograph. The EVVA MCS system renders these threats obsolete.

  • The Magnetic Interface: Built into the MCS key are permanent magnets configured with extremely specific polarities and magnetic angles. Inside the lock cylinder are corresponding free-spinning magnetic rotors.
  • Contactless Verification: When the key is inserted, it doesn’t just physically push pins. The magnetic fields interact through the solid brass of the cylinder wall, aligning the internal rotors correctly without any physical contact.
  • Absolute Pick Resistance: Because there are no pins touching the key, there is nothing for a burglar’s lock pick to manipulate. The system simply will not operate unless the exact, complex magnetic field is introduced.

Absolute Key Control

The weak point of most “secure” systems is key duplication. The EVVA MCS is one of the only systems that can claim to be 100% 3D-printer and copy-proof.

  • You cannot visually inspect an EVVA MCS key and know its magnetic code.
  • You cannot photograph it to copy it.
  • Even a sophisticated CNC machine or 3D printer cannot fabricate the required Samarium-Cobalt magnets with the precise polarities needed.
  • If you need a duplicate key, you (and only you) must present the highly encrypted ownership card to a certified, factory-authorized source like DC Local Locksmith.

Custom Installation and Master Keying

Despite its incredible internal complexity, EVVA MCS cylinders are designed in strict modular formats, meaning they can be fitted into standard deadbolts and European profile doors commonly found in luxury real estate throughout Washington DC.

  • DC Local Locksmith conducts highly discreet, precise installations of EVVA hardware into existing doors, upgrading your core security without changing your exterior aesthetic.
  • The MCS system offers over 299 quadrillion possible lock variations. We can utilize this to build massive, intensely secure master key hierarchies for large commercial enterprises or high-end multi-family properties.

Common Questions

EVVA MCS High Security in Washington DC FAQs

How does the EVVA MCS system actually work?

The EVVA MCS utilizes both a mechanical profile and a highly complex magnetic code. Along the sides of the key are high-strength magnets arranged in varying polarities and angles. When inserted, these magnets rotate internal, free-spinning magnetic rotors inside the cylinder. Once the rotors perfectly align to the exact magnetic signature of your key, the mechanical locking bar is released.

Can standard lock picks open an EVVA MCS?

No. The combination of the complex physical profile and the internal magnetic rotors makes covert entry using tension wrenches, picks, bump keys, or impressioning tools physically impossible for a burglar. The lock can only be operated by presenting the correct magnetic signature.

Do the magnets in the key lose their charge over time?

No. The EVVA MCS uses Samarium-Cobalt (SmCo) permanent magnets. These are exceptionally stable. Under normal conditions, they will not demagnetize or lose field strength, guaranteeing reliable operation for the lifetime of the lock.

Are you licensed and insured for residential work in DC?

Yes. DC Local Locksmith holds a current DC and MD license, is fully bonded, and carries general liability insurance. Documentation is available on request.

Do you offer after-hours service for home lockouts?

Yes. Our dispatch line is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Quoted before dispatch.

Which lock brands do you install and service?

We install and service Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, and most ANSI-rated residential hardware. We can supply hardware or install what you provide.

Should I rekey or replace my locks after moving into a new home?

Rekeying is the faster option when the hardware is in good condition and serves most change-of-occupancy needs. Replacement is warranted when hardware is worn, damaged, or below ANSI Grade 1 standard. We confirm which path fits your hardware during the quote.

Can you cut additional keys on-site?

Yes. We carry key blanks for most residential cylinders and can cut copies at the time of service.

What is ANSI Grade 1, and do I need it for my exterior doors?

ANSI Grade 1 is the highest residential security rating, tested for 250,000 cycles, 6 attempts at 75-pound force, and pick/drill resistance. We recommend Grade 1 on all exterior doors and Grade 2 minimum on interior doors.

What is your protocol for eviction-related lock changes?

We require a copy of the court order before performing an eviction lock change. We do not perform lock changes on occupied residential units without legal authorization.
