Project Overview
Operating on Embassy Row requires both high-level security expertise and architectural sensitivity. This case study details how DC Local Locksmith worked with a diplomatic mission in Washington DC to fortify their premises against modern security threats while respecting the strict aesthetics of a historic avenue.
The Assessment
The embassy’s security director contacted us to address vulnerabilities in their aging brass hardware. The facility required locksets capable of resisting bumping, picking, and drilling. Furthermore, they needed an internal tiering system so that local staff, diplomats, and security personnel could safely access designated zones without carrying bulky keychains. Before proceeding, we confirmed the exact quote and provided detailed schematics for the proposed upgrades.
The Implementation
Our highly experienced, insured technicians carefully removed the existing hardware from the heavy, antique wooden doors. We retrofitted the entryways with state-of-the-art, drill-resistant commercial deadbolts and mortise locks that matched the original ornate brass finishes. Inside, we deployed a patented restricted master key system. This system ensures that keys cannot be duplicated at hardware stores and gives the Head of Security absolute control over who holds keys for specific floors and suites.
Long-Term Support
We maintain a secure, encrypted record of the embassy’s master key system, allowing us to generate authorized replacement keys or rekey specific cylinders at a moment’s notice. With our rapid response guarantee, the mission knows that our fully bonded experts are always available to handle any emergency lockouts or immediate security upgrades, day or night.
